BOAT STORAGE

Wintering park

It is possible to have your boat stored in a wintering park. In this context, it will be stored outdoors in the parking lot of the wintering park. Note that in addition to the storage rate, which may vary according to its duration and the length of the boat, you will also have to consider the cost of launching.

RULES

Our Regulations

If you have any doubts about a regulation or policy, please consult the Port Authority of the park for clarification.

  1. Respect the location assigned by the dock keeper for parking your boat.
  2. It is forbidden to live on board the boat during the wintering period.
  3. The use of electricity is authorized only for specific work on the boat and only when you are present on site.
  4. Respect the environment by using used oil tanks appropriately. Do not dump oil, fuel, or other waste into the water or on the ground.
  5. Make sure your boat is secured to avoid damage in case of extreme weather conditions.
  6. Maintenance and repair work must be carried out in a way that does not cause damage to other boats or the environment.
  7. Respect safety rules, including the use of fire extinguishers or other safety equipment when necessary.
  8. Any harmful or disruptive behavior towards other users or park staff will be penalized.
  9. Traffic and speed rules on docks and in the wintering park must be respected at all times to ensure the safety of all users.
  10. Local environmental rules and regulations must be strictly observed.

BEST PRACTICES

For wintering a boat

The boat exterior
  • Wash the decks, windows, and portholes.
  • Check general waterproofing. Grease and/or lubricate joints, valves, locks, cleats, and all metal parts.
  • If the boat winters out of the water and the condition of the hull requires it (in case of presence of algae and shells, for example), clean it.
  • If the boat winters afloat, check the condition of the moorings and fenders.
The boat interior
  • It's time for spring cleaning: thoroughly clean floors and upholstery, and let them dry well. Remember to use eco-friendly products!
  • Empty and clean the refrigerator.
  • Close the gas bottle and remove it. Take the opportunity to check the condition of its hose.
  • Remove electronic equipment that is very expensive and could tempt thieves!
  • Remove the batteries and put them in a safe place, at your home for example. Remember to recharge them from time to time.
  • If the boat winters outdoors, bring home the upholstery, medicine cabinet, distress beacons, and all other safety equipment (vests, buoys, etc.). This is an opportunity to check them and prevent them from being damaged by cold and humidity.
The engine
  • Drain the engine, change the oil filter, then grease the engine and screws.
  • Warning, if you live in a cold region, consider applying antifreeze protection.
The fuel tank
  • For diesel: fill up to avoid condensation.
  • However, it is preferable to empty a gasoline engine because this type of fuel does not keep well.
Toilets and water system
  • Drain gray water, greasy water, and black water in the spaces of the ports reserved for this purpose.
  • Rinse the circuit with fresh water mixed with white vinegar, then add antifreeze to the circuit.
OPTIONS

The options for your boat

Several possibilities are available to you to allow your boat to spend the winter in good conditions.

At home: in the parking lot, under shelter, or in a garage

This is of course the least expensive solution, but you must have enough space at home. Depending on whether you store it indoors or outdoors, winter preparation will be more or less demanding.
